Like all medication, taking too much GABA can and will cause you to experience side effects, ranging from mild to severe. To reduce the chances of experiencing side effects, it is recommended that you take natural GABA instead of synthetic ones. Be very cautious and take only the recommended dosages, or as your doctor instructs you.
Common Side Effects
The most common side effects of GABA include:
- Dry mouth.
- Balance problems.
- Blurred vision.
- Stomach pain.
- Memory problems.
- Increased appetite.
- Joint and muscle pain.
Despite these being the most common side effects, only a small number of users appear to be affected by GABA.
Severe Side Effects
The more severe side effects of GABA include:
- Easy bruising.
- Severe muscle pain.
- High fever.
- Tenderness in the muscles.
- General lack of energy.
- Swelling of hands and feet.
- Increased tendency to gain weight.
These side effects are extremely rare and occur only in the most serious cases.
Important Safety Information
Upon experiencing any of the above, discontinue use and contact your doctor immediately. Some other symptoms may occur when taking this medication, such as: anxiety, agitation, sudden mood changes, hostility, depression, and thoughts of suicide. A sudden stop in taking GABA may cause withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and seizures.

Take GABA only in dosages that are recommended on the label, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. GABA is an oral medicine, taken only in pill form and should be consumed with a large glass of water. The pill can be ingested on an empty or full stomach, but the same dosages must be taken each day. Should you miss a dose of GABA, take the next one at your earliest convenience, but never ingest two at the same time.
